Before you start

Neon Abyss 2 co-op is online and supports up to four players. The Xbox listing describes a host and up to three friends exploring different rooms on the same map. Veewo’s 1.0 notes refer to invitation joining on PC and say its waiting and failure feedback was improved; the supplied official material does not give the menu-by-menu steps or confirm a public lobby browser or room-code path. The developer also stated on October 7, 2026 that split-screen would not be added for 1.0, so split-screen local co-op is not available in that release. The 1.0 notes distinguish run/session data from personal saves, but do not specify every persistent reward or whose unlocks determine a co-op route.

Online co-op supports up to four players

The Xbox Store labels the mode Online co-op (2–4) and describes one player plus up to three friends. Its listing says players can explore different rooms on the same map. The US PlayStation Store independently lists up to four online players. These are online sessions; the sources do not describe local shared-screen play.

Invitation joining is documented; exact lobby steps are not

Veewo’s 1.0 update notes explicitly discuss joining by invitation on PC and say the update improved the waiting and failure feedback. That establishes an invitation-based join path. The available official notes do not show how to create a lobby, where to send or accept an invitation, or whether a public browser or room code is available in 1.0, so there is no verified click-by-click sequence to reproduce here.

The notes also do not establish cross-platform invitations. Check crossplay status before planning a group across different platforms or stores.

A co-op run and a personal save are different progress

The official 1.0 notes describe fixes for online progress being mixed into personal saves and for errors involving a guest’s Evolution purchases and Fate records. They also fixed missing or incomplete co-op settlement cards and several host, disconnect, and return-to-bar problems. This distinguishes the shared run/session from each player’s saved progression. The notes do not enumerate which individual run rewards persist for every participant, or say that the host’s unlocks determine the 1.0 route. Avoid assuming either rule from older Early Access descriptions.

No local split-screen at 1.0

In the Steam discussion about local co-op and split-screen, a developer replied on October 7, 2026: “We’re not adding Split Screen at 1.0.” The Xbox and PlayStation listings separately describe single-player modes, but those labels do not confirm offline connectivity. Co-op requires an online session; whether solo play works without an internet connection is not established by the sources cited here.

What the 1.0 update fixed for co-op

Veewo’s 1.0 notes report fixes for incomplete settlement cards, host status remaining falsely online, invitation-join waiting and failure feedback, disconnects or boss exits that could leave players stuck returning to the bar, and co-op progress leaking into personal saves. They also call out guest Evolution purchases and Fate records. These are the issues the launch update says it addressed; the notes do not promise that every later connection problem is impossible.
