Neon Abyss 2 Items: Effects, Types & Version Scope
This is a scoped reference, not an exhaustive item database. Current examples include Popcorn, Tin Daddy, Ring of Regal Majesty, and the 1.0 Weapon XP Hexjar change; older January item descriptions are labeled by version.
Sources checked:
- Coverage
- Selected entries with source-supported effects; no claim of an exhaustive item list or settled total.
- Version
- October 1.0 examples are separated from the January 29, 2026 Early Access update. January names translated from Chinese are descriptive labels unless separately confirmed in English footage.
- Stacking
- The Steam store says there is no limit to how many items a player can wield; this does not supply a complete item roster or guarantee that every effect stacks in the same way.
Lookup and field meanings
Use this page as a selected item lookup, not a complete roster. October 1.0 footage describes Popcorn as making weapon projectiles explode, Tin Daddy as protecting against explosions caused by the player, and Ring of Regal Majesty as lowering a set threshold while carried. Veewo’s 1.0 notes say the Weapon XP Hexjar releases souls that the player must collect. The January Early Access update lists five item groups and additional examples, but its older descriptions are not assumed to be unchanged in 1.0.
Item groups in the January update
Veewo’s January 29, 2026 Early Access announcement grouped its examples under five headings. The English labels below are translations of that Chinese announcement, not a claim that each label matches the current English UI.
Swipe or scroll horizontally to read all columns.
| Update heading | What this reference can say |
|---|---|
| Curios | The announcement lists active effects that spend Crystals, such as gathering nearby drops or transforming an object in the room. |
| Treasures | The update lists passive effects, including Faith- and set-related examples. |
| Relics | The announcement lists separate relic entries; their January effects are version-scoped. |
| Jars | The announcement lists usable jar items. The weapon-XP jar behavior changed by 1.0; see the version note below. |
| Exotic items | The update lists unusual held or thrown objects, including Goose, Glass Jar, Goblin Box, and Orange Cat. |
The official Steam store describes item stacking as uncapped. It does not publish an exhaustive name-and-effect table, so the entries below are examples rather than a promise to cover every item.
Selected 1.0 item effects
These names and effects appear in supplied 1.0 announcement material or narrated 1.0 gameplay. Creator footage is attributed to the creator and documents a run; it is not an official item database.
Swipe or scroll horizontally to read all columns.
| Item | Documented effect or restriction | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Popcorn | A 1.0 gameplay source reads its effect as making the player’s weapon projectiles create explosions. | Pairs with effects that tolerate or prevent self-caused explosion damage; check the other item’s current tooltip before committing to the interaction. |
| Tin Daddy | The same 1.0 run reads its effect as granting immunity to explosions caused by the player. | It changes the risk of an explosive projectile setup; it does not prevent enemy damage generally. |
| Ring of Regal Majesty | A launch-week guide reports that carrying it lowers an eight-piece set requirement to six; putting it away can remove that reduction. | It changes a set threshold rather than counting as one of the set pieces. Check the in-run set counter for the active requirement. |
| Weapon XP Hexjar | Veewo’s 1.0 notes say it releases souls in set amounts for the player to collect for weapon XP. | The souls must be collected; do not carry forward the older instant-fill description. |
The Popcorn and Tin Daddy effects were described together in one creator’s October 12, 2026 run. That is evidence for a documented interaction, not a guarantee that the items appear together in every run.
Keep older item descriptions tied to their update
The January 2026 announcement is useful for understanding the update it describes, but it predates 1.0. For example, it describes Purity Mark (a translated label for 纯洁印记) as scaling damage with Faith and adding a projectile at full Faith. The supplied evidence does not confirm that exact effect in the 1.0 English UI, so treat it as the January update’s description rather than current build advice.
The same announcement describes Orange Cat (橘猫) as triggering a wheel when the held cat takes damage: one outcome drops coins and another increases its size, with larger size affecting coin drops. An October 8 full-release video title confirms Orange Cat appears in a 1.0 run, but the supplied footage notes do not re-check its current tooltip. Its January effect is therefore not presented here as confirmed 1.0 behavior.
One specific change is documented: January’s weapon-XP jar description said it filled the current weapon’s experience, while Veewo’s October 1.0 notes say the Weapon XP Hexjar releases souls for collection. Use the 1.0 description for that mechanic. For set membership and activation details, use the in-run set counter and item descriptions. The guide index lists the other currently available references.
